Samir is the infant daughter of Nura and Khaled, a Zimka family from Melusa, and the niece of Kalima.

During the Chasm Explorers’ stay in Melusa in January 1730, a soul calling itself Taquin spoke through Samir. It recognized Zahara as its child and shared memories of falling toward the labyrinth. Nura believed that an old soul had prevented Samir from becoming her own person, and feared she would not survive. Her fate is not known.
