Nymthrax’s Hoard

Nymthrax’s Hoard was the treasure recovered by the Silver Tempests from Nymthrax’s lair in the Blackwater Fens in DR 1748. It was not a single pile of coin, but a large historical collection arranged by origin, with newer plunder kept separately from the older treasures that Nymthrax displayed more carefully.

Tower Hoard

Nymthrax stored recent plunder in the tower of his lair. This part of the hoard included Chardonian silver and gold, orcish armband currency, Deno’qai spears, shields, and animal-headed silver hand mirrors, and goods taken from local Bullywugs.

Notable pieces included a damaged wooden eagle statue whose aquamarine eyes and mother-of-pearl talons were salvageable, marsh-reed baskets full of small trinkets and copper frog figures, freshwater pearls, bullywug potions, Chardonian healing potions, and a clay-and-river-stone Pipe of Remembrance.

Keep Hoard

The larger part of the hoard was stored in a hidden cave accessible only via an underwater passage, and it was arranged as a sequence of historical collections.

Elven

The elven section held coins from different ages of elven history, a potion of invisibility, an Arrow of Demon Slaying, a marble bust of an elven princess, and a ceremonial silvered longsword with Elvish runes describing its bearer.

Dwarven

The dwarven section included silver trade bars stamped with the mark of Nidzahar, an Orb of Time, an elaborate gold necklace with ruby-set pendants, mixed gems, and a chess set with air elemental and earth elemental pieces.

Lizardfolk

The lizardfolk section held mother-of-pearl coins, painted clay urns, and the Staff of the Swamplands, a dark-wood magic staff that became associated with Samso after its recovery.

Drankorian

The Drankorian section was sparse, centered on a Crystal Ball of True Seeing displayed on a custom pedestal.

Amani

The Amani section was the largest part of the collection, arranged almost like a museum display. It included old pre-Great War coinage, four small elemental stone carvings, a scroll of Planar Ally, a Wand of Pyrotechnics, and a Ring of Three Wishes.

Volganis

The Volganis section included the Crown Jewels of Volganis, a plain silver circlet, a Volganis Dragonhide Belt, and an Amulet of Protection.

Order of Twilight

The Order of Twilight section held holy symbols of The Night Queen, including the Twilight Emblem, along with a metal Manual of Clay Golems, a scroll of summon celestial, and a ceremonial helm decorated with moonstone.

Cha’mutte and Pandar

The final display was arranged as a tomb dedicated to an unknown warrior associated with Cha’mutte and Pandar. It contained melted and ruined weapons, an obsidian dragon statue decorated with silver wire and red garnets, and square hobgoblin coins.

After Recovery

After recovering the hoard, the Silver Tempests traveled down the Barzhen, returned some treasure to the bullywugs of Guluppa-Sog, and brought the rest back to Voltara.

In Voltara, some of the recovered treasure was sold. Quintus Percomia bought the salvaged eagle-statue gems and a set of mixed gems. Inectos Tintio bought the Crown Jewels of Volganis and the silver circlet. Eldeth Redhammer bought the bone-and-wood glaive with its pearl-and-skull necklace and the elaborate gold-and-ruby necklace.

Other treasure was sold more generally at market, including the ceremonial helm, the elven ceremonial longsword, the Deno’qai weapons and hand mirrors, and the painted lizardfolk urns. The bullywug trinkets, freshwater pearls, and bullywug potions were returned to the bullywugs. The Order of Twilight holy symbols, including the Twilight Emblem, were given to Galius Filuso in payment for his work on the magical protection of Tempest Towers.

Several art objects were kept to decorate Tempest Towers, including the marble bust of the elven princess, the obsidian dragon statue, the elemental chess set, and the four elemental stone carvings. The party also purchased an extradimensional vault from Eldeth Redhammer and secured the manor with additional magic.

The party retained a number of magic items from the hoard, including the Staff of the Swamplands, the Crystal Ball of True Seeing, the Ring of Three Wishes, the Manual of Clay Golems, the Orb of Time, the Wand of Pyrotechnics, the Amulet of Protection, the Volganis Dragonhide Belt, scrolls, potions, and the Pipe of Remembrance.
