Serpentine is a pale green gemstone that is associated with necromancy and enchantment magic.

It is most famously associated with Avatus, ruler of the Dominion of Avatus, whose desire for serpentine was a major underlying cause of the Serpentine Wars in the DR 1300s. Serpentine weapons, produced by Avatus, played a major role in the Serpentine Wars between the Dominion of Avatus and Addermarch. Tracking and safely disposing these cursed weapons after these wars was an early formative task for the Rangers, who recorded the Serpentine Register to document their efforts.
