Emperor Avatus

Avatus, styling himself the Emperor of New Drankor, ruled the Dominion of Avatus for 230 years until his defeat at the hands of Derik I. Despite his long lifespan, no reliable information exists concerning his true nature, or even his species. Rumors abound, however: he was a powerful undead; he was an elf who forsake the Firstborn; he was not one person but a series of leaders taking the same name; he made a bargain with a devil for eternal life; he was a powerful wizard who could cheat time itself.

One thing later sources all agree on is that he had a strong connection to magic. His realm was the source of many serpentine weapons, known for their dangerous enchantments that brought battle frenzy, paranoia, and rage on all who wielded them. He also commissioned a number of powerful items, including the Mirror of Soul Trapping that later featured prominently in the story of Appolyon’s rise and downfall.
