Minarith Terracotta Portrait
A terracotta tile depicting Minarith, recovered from his office at the University of the Blessed Waters.

Minarith was an unassuming peronar scholar of natural philosophy, faculty at the University of the Blessed Waters in Drankor. He was a natural historian, and cared deeply about his work cataloging the flora, fauna, and geological features of the Empire. While his colleagues in the magical sciences explored grand arcane theories and wielded power that could reshape reality, Minarith preferred the quiet rigor of studying the mundane.

As Apollyon’s persecution intensified, Minarith remained at the university, choosing to stay in Drankor while others began to flee, hoping his political neutrality and the obscurity of his studies would protect him. It did not.

In DR 1048, the Omnis Pura raided the university. Fearing capture, Minarith wrote an Elvish letter to Maglar, acknowledging that his hope had failed, and urging Maglar to flee, but did not send it before he was arrested, alongside other non-human academics. Taken to the Grand Crucible for execution, he was instead removed from the condemned by Omnis Pura agents and delivered to Apollyon. He remained imprisoned until he was sacrificed in DR 1053, becoming one of seven souls bound into Apollyon’s Phylactery. His fate was unknown for many centuries, until the Dunmar Fellowship ventured to Drankor to defeat Apollyon, and learned of her history.

On May 24, 1749 DR, Delwath freed his soul in the Land of the Dead by asking him questions about plants, drawing him into a botany lesson that restored his memory of being a scholar and teacher and allowed him to pass on.
