The Scar of Shadowfire

The Scar of Shadowfire lies along the southern bank of the Chasa, a few hundred miles upriver from Chardon. It marks the site of the Battle of Shadowfire, a major Chardonian defeat during the Blood Years, where dragonfire destroyed the front line and scorched a barren strip nearly half a mile long in the ground. Nothing grows here, and strange mists cling to the bare earth of this site. The ruins of a temporary fortification, scorched and partially destroyed, stand within the Scar, but few dare explore them. The ruins are widely considered haunted by the many unburied dead of the Battle of Shadowfire, the soldiers of the front lines who were instantly turned to ash by dragonfire.

This is a dangerous place, still, and widely considered haunted. Travelers avoid it when possible and move quickly through it when not.
