A fey lord (he/him)
Ruler of Melusa
Based in Zeyfa’s Realm
Forquarion the Frostbinder is a fey lord who rules Melusa from a floating palace of ice. The villagers of Melusa call him Malquin the Vaqar, and regard him as Zeyfa’s lieutenant; some worship him.
Forquarion controls the sky above Melusa. The villagers believe that sacrifices into the labyrinth restore daylight when darkness falls. He is the master of the labyrinth’s beast, which cannot truly die while the labyrinth stands. He calls it “my other” and “my curse,” insisting that it must always return to its domain. The nature of their connection remains unknown.
Appearance and Manner
Tall and humanoid, with pale, icy blue skin, Forquarion carries a sword of ice and vanishes and reappears within his palace. Few speak with him in his place; those that do say his manner shifts abruptly between regal courtesy, confusion, and violent threats. He fears, or assumes, that the outside world is only a dream, and that leaving Zeyfa’s Realm would end his existence, though he remembers moonlight and stars that are absent from this domain.
The Chasm Explorers
In January 1730, Forquarion bargained with the Chasm Explorers for proof that the outside world was real and safe. He gave Finnan a necklace to take beyond the portal, demanding its return under threat of vengeance. In exchange, he promised help with the realm’s cracks and passage for those wishing to leave.
When the explorers returned to Melusa, Zahara reported that a gigantic fist from an ashen portal had destroyed his guards and ice wolf. The palace was silent, and attempts to enter had failed. The party evacuated willing villagers without returning the necklace or learning Forquarion’s fate.
