The Elemental Plane of Metal

The Elemental Plane of Metal is a hypothesized Energy Realm that is implied to exist by the traditional dwarven model of seven fundamental energies: Spirit, Magic, Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Metal. In that model, the non-Spirit energies are each assumed to derive from a specific energy realm, requiring the existence of an energy realm associated with metal.

The plane’s existence is disputed. Lyrannis of Aquilona dismissed the idea, citing a lack of evidence for pure metal elementals. Other metaphysicists point to descriptions of massive twisted caverns of iron, usually assumed to be part of the Elemental Plane of Earth, as possible evidence for the Elemental Plane of Metal. Alternatively, the dwarven Plane of Metal may actually be Airion’s Ironroot and Pyreforge, two compound realms associated with the Elemental Plane of Earth.
