Airion the Mistspeaker was a pre-Great War human elementalist and planar scholar, active mainly in the area that is now Greater Voltara and the Mawar Confederacy. He is remembered chiefly for his deep study of the Energy Realms, though he also did significant work on elemental binding, and cataloged places where the boundary between the Material Plane and the elemental planes is thin. He died during the Great War, and much of his work was lost or scattered during the Blood Years.

His best-known surviving works are the Elemental Scrolls of Airion, four scrolls of elemental power that later drew the interest of the Great Library. The recovery of the scrolls by the Silver Tempests, along with some of his correspondence, and fragments such as The Codex of Compound Planes restored enough of his scholarship to revive serious debate about compound elemental realms, planar weak points, and the structure of elemental magic.
