Menestheus

Died in the 27th House, the Twilight Kingdom, the Feywild

Menestheus is a displaced Drankorian scholar of the Arithrimos Lamperum. He is a mathematician and geographer whose work concerns brilliant-number maps of planar connections.

A young scholar, in his twenties, he has an intense, almost joyful relationship with mathematics. He is at his most animated talking about brilliant numbers and planar mathematics; he speaks quickly, addressing his listeners as if they were specialized cosmological mathematicians, and grows exasperated when he has to explain elementary points. He had joined the Arithrimos Lamperum only a few years before entering the Feywild, where he had a junior position as a map-reader and planar mathematic-cartographer, the person who can unlock the coordinates hidden in brilliant numbers and guide others to weak points between worlds, not the person responsible for whatever happens when they arrive. He cares little about the politics or survival of the Drankorian Empire, but believes wholeheartedly that the boundaries between planes must be maintained to protect the world.

Menestheus joined the Tollen Misfits in DR 1740 when they entered the 27th House. During the journey to the central prison, he gradually learned of the horrors and abuses committed by the Arithrimos Lamperum; he denied having known about them and continued to defend the order’s purpose of protecting Taelgar from extraplanar threats.

During this journey, Menestheus was attacked by fungal entities, children of the Prisoner in the 27th Room, who infected him. He died in the library of the 27th House after succumbing to this alien fungal infection.
