Western Cymea
- A region in Cymea, the Western Green Sea
Western Cymea, the foothills and coastal lowlands west of the Plataca Hills, is politically and culturally distinct from the rest of the Cymean Peninsula. Looking to the Western Gulf, not the open Green Sea, it is a place of small strongholds, fortified market towns, and rushing, rocky rivers that spill into the ocean; a land of mild winters and warm summers, of cattle and wine. Many of the people of Western Cymea live in scattered small fishing villages and isolated farmsteads in the uplands, with little mind to larger political organization, though larger market towns and ports with good harbors provide opportunities for trade.
For many years after the Great War, as the cities and ports of Cymea declined and could no longer reliably project power into the Western Gulf, Western Cymea was a haven for pirates and bandits. These days, the powerful Tollender Navy has stamped out much of the piracy in the Western Gulf; what is left is mostly limited to small-scale smugglers. As a result, much of Western Cymea is functionally a protectorate of Tollen; the aimless youth of the area now find themselves recruited (sometimes against their will) to work the Tollender ships that ply the Green Sea.
