Precinct IV
- A precinct in Chardon, the Chardonian Empire, Greater Chardon
Precinct IV is the academic quarter of Chardon, famed for its towers, lecture halls, and libraries. It contains the University of Chardon and is closely associated with the Great Library. In addition to the ordinary bustle of a city neighborhood—inns, taverns, and lodgings—Precinct IV is shaped by the presence of many scholars and mages, including a number of distinctive wizard towers.
The University of Chardon controls directly or indirectly a large fraction of the land of Precinct IV, though competition among its colleges and faculties limits its political cohesion. The Hetaeri Magica historically maintained its own rules for magic within the district. After the fallout from revelations about Fausto and The Cleansed, the Chardonian Chalyte Trade Reforms and the Hetaeri Magica’s role in allowing corrupt chalyte dealings to spread, there have been popular rumblings questioning this arrangement, but so far nothing has come of them.
