Airion’s Research on the Elemental Plane of Water

Three annotated books concerning the Elemental Plane of Water and the Sentient Ocean, once owned by Airion the Mistspeaker. His marginal glosses connect their content to his own research into elemental magic, planar weak points, genies, and the Sentient Ocean.

The three books are:

• On the Mysteries of the Infinite Depths, a Drankorian natural history treatise on leviathans and other deep creatures of the Elemental Plane of Water, including Gazankoa.
• On Elemental Forms, a Drankorian-era treatise on elemental beings, especially the sentient and powerful genies.
• Studies of the Westward Deeps, an Elvish natural history and maritime survey of the western ocean, preserved here in Airion’s annotated copy, which includes a discussion of the Sentient Ocean.

Azar studied the annotated books after emerging in Mendin with Airion’s treasure. From Airion’s glosses, he learned enough about Yi’weti to believe that living water could make his false resurrection ritual work. That conclusion led him to use Airion’s Ring of Elemental Binding to compel Nimessa, a marid, to steal living water from the Sentient Ocean.

After Azar’s defeat at Shark’s Dock, the Adventurers of Mawar searched his lair in the Splinters and recovered the books along with the brass bowl and coins.
