Standard Multiversal Model
The Standard Multiversal Model is the dominant scholarly classification of the Multiverse taught by the Faculty of Metaphysics at the University of Chardon. It grew out of earlier Drankorian work, especially the synthesis associated with Gaius Devarro, and remains the most widely used framework among Chardonian planar scholars.
In its common form, the model divides the planes into four broad classes:
- Fundamental Planes: the Plane of Creation, Astral Plane, Plane of Magic, Ethereal Plane, Material Plane, and Plane of Souls.
- Energy Realms: planes associated with the fundamental energies of the multiverse, especially the elemental planes.
- Spiritual Realms: the planes of gods, demons, and other spiritual beings, generally lying beyond the Land of the Dead.
- Echo Realms: reflections, distortions, or reverberations shaped by the Riving, including the Feywild and the Dreamworld. Demiplanes and the Shadowfolds are usually also included in the Echo Realms.
The model is a classification scheme, not a universally accepted statement of metaphysical truth. Yendalism rejects many of its distinctions in favor of the division between the Inner Realms and Outer Realms, while planar dualists collapse much of the model into the paired fundamentals of the Astral and Ethereal realms.
