The Shrine to Guzo the Mariner

🔈 (GOO-zoh)

The Shrine to Guzo the Mariner is an old sea-cave shrine in the North Cliffs, north of Hamri. Set within a cliffside cave on a white-sand beach, and only accessible by boat, the shrine was once a popular pilgrimage site. By the early 1700s, however, it had fallen into disrepair, no longer maintained by priests and used primarily as a hangout and hideaway by local youths. After several accidents in the 1720s, it acquired a reputation for being haunted, and fell out of common knowledge.

In the current day, the sanctuary and chapel still stand, as does a statue of Guzo the Mariner, but the roof has collapsed. The presence of divine magic still animates the shrine, however. In DR 1749, a marid seeking a crystal fragment connected to the Sentient Ocean ventured into the shrine and triggered a divine protection of the shrine in the form of a Hallow spell. The crystal fragment was recovered by the Adventurers of Mawar.
