Dorian Almare, known as the Mystic of Tamaro Bay, is a Chardonian hermit, originally from Castrella, who now lives on a small island in Tamaro Bay.
After losing his husband in a shipwreck in DR 1731, Dorian fled Castrella and settled on an isolated island in Tamaro Bay, seeking comfort in the songs and whispers of the Sentient Ocean. He came to believe that his husband had become part of the endless sea. By DR 1736, he had befriended several merfolk, including Caloria, and became known as a spiritual guide for others mourning loved ones lost at sea. He promised to let them hear again the voices of their loved ones, and helped them interpret the songs and whispers of the ocean and the waves.
In DR 1739, wounded merfolk fleeing Buruli’s takeover of Omi sought refuge with Dorian. Caloria entrusted him with magical water containing a fragment of the Sentient Ocean. He drank it, falling under an oceanic curse that fragmented his memories and sense of time, though he retained some of the ocean’s magic. He began recovering after the curse was broken in DR 1749.
